PERUPETRO SA signed an addendum to the Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement with the Repsol company and the community and environmental monitoring teams of Bajo Urubamba (Cusco), to extend its validity until 2027, in order to continue strengthening the environmental surveillance and monitoring mechanisms in the development of hydrocarbon operations carried out in Lot 57.

This agreement was signed on February 22, 2021 with a validity of three years, achieving important results in strengthening the capacities of local leaders, generating environmental awareness and promoting community organization.

Community leaders were trained in regulatory aspects of the hydrocarbon sector, waste management, environmental monitoring, equipment management and soft skills.

Furthermore, through community monitoring and coordination with communities and organizations, it was possible to create favorable and sustainable social and environmental scenarios for the development of hydrocarbon activities.

Therefore, the Agreement will have a second period, 2024-2027, to continue strengthening community environmental and social monitoring programs, promoting greater transparency and community participation in hydrocarbon activities.

It should be noted that the Environmental Impact Study of Lot 57 contemplates the formation of monitoring teams and said teams represent the 14 communities in the area of influence plus the participation of a federation.

Lot 57 is located in the department of Cuzco, in the provinces of La Convencion, and is partially overlapping with the Machiguenga Communal Reserve and its Buffer Zone, and close to the Ashaninka Communal Reserve and its Buffer Zone and the Buffering of Otishi National Park.

The monitoring teams participating in this program are: PROMOVICK, made up of representatives of the communities of Camisea, Shivankoreni, Nuevo Mundo, Kirigueti and the Shintorini rural settlement; EMMAC, made up of representatives of the native communities of Porotobango, Nuevo Mundo, Nueva Vida, Nueva Luz, Miaria, Puerto Rico, Sensa, Sepahua, and the CECONAMA and EMACRY Organization, made up of the native community of Kitepampani. PERUPETRO SA reiterates its commitment to promoting investments with sustainable development, for the benefit of the country.
