Peru's Centauro preparing copper-gold exploration work
Peru’s Minera Centauro, which has projects in central region Pasco, is preparing to invest US$28.5mn in the Quicay II greenfield copper-gold exploration initiative.
The project already has the prior permits required by environmental regulator Senace – such as environmental management instruments (IGA), exploration authorization and prior consultation, among others.
According to a report sent by the company to Senace, the works involve 160,000m of diamond drilling with 40 platforms and are expected to take 60 months. Centauro says 60 workers will be required.
The report was prepared by consulting firm Especialistas Ambientales and can be downloaded from the Documents box in the top-right corner of the screen.
According to the energy and mines ministry, Peru has 75 active exploration projects involving US$644mn and Quicay II is among the five initiatives with the highest capex.
