Peruvian PPPs drawing European companies
Companies from Spain, Portugal and the UK are interested in Peruvian PPPs, especially in infrastructure, according to investment promotion agency ProInversión.
Particularly attractive are the US$263mn Ferrocarril Huancayo-Huancavelica rail contract and the US$914mn fourth section of the Longitudinal de la Sierra highway (in photo), ProInversión said on social media.
Awarding the rail contract is scheduled for December. It comprises rehabilitation, operation and maintenance.
Spanish companies Copasa, Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos and Portugal’s Mota-Engil signaled interest. Representatives of the companies’ local branches met with ProInversión officials in early August, according to the agency.
Luis Natal Del Carpio, head of ProInversión’s special projects department, told BNamericas that capex is set to rise by US$100mn.
Meanwhile, the Longitudinal de la Sierra contract covers construction, operation and maintenance of 965km of highways in the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Ica and Junín. Mota-Engil, Ortiz Construcciones and Aldesa are interested.
All four sections will be awarded in January.
OTHER ITEMS
Officials from the UK’s embassy and ERG International Group also met with ProInversión to talk about the US$762mn Ancón industrial park in Callao. Awarding is planned for September. Overall, 15 companies have shown interest in the project.
Although Copasa did not participate in the last tender for the US$86mn Puerto Maldonado water treatment plant, the company remains interested. The project is being reformulated and expected to be awarded by year-end.
