Petrobras confirms Libra oil find

Brazil's Petrobras completed the drilling of offshore well 3-BRSA-1305A-RJS (3-RJS-739A) in the northwest area of the Libra block in the pre-salt of the Santos basin.

The well found an oil column of around 270m and high-quality reservoirs, confirming the previously announced discovery, the company said in a statement.

The 28 API degree oil that was encountered is similar to that found at wells 2-ANP-2A-RJS and 3-RJS-731.

Petrobras, which has reported four discoveries this year, said that wells 3-BRSA-1322-RJS (3-RJS-741) and 3-BRSA-1339-RJS (3-RJS-742) also are being drilled in Libra's northwest area.

The Libra consortium is composed of Petrobras (40%, operator), Shell (20%), Total (20%), CNPC (10%) and CNOOC (10%). Pré-Sal Petróleo is the contract manager.

Earlier this week, Petrobras reported operations start-up of the Cidade de Maricá FPSO in the Lula Alto area of the pre-salt Lula field in Santos block BM-S-11.
