Petrobras exports 44,000t of LPG to Japan

Brazil's federal energy company Petrobras (NYSE: PBR) has sold 44,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LGP) to Japanese oil company Idemitsu for US$15mn, Petrobras said in a statement. The transaction was carried out by Petrobras' Argentine units, the statement said. Japan is one of the world's leading consumers of LPG. In 2001, the country consumed 19 million metric tonnes of the gas, or about 10% of total world LPG demand, according to the Japanese LPG association. In 2003, Petrobras sold 136,000t of LPG to China for US$44mn.
