Petrobras hiring up to three anchor-handling supply vessels
Brazil's Petrobras has launched a tender to charter up to three anchor-handling supply vessels (AHTS).
The tender documents are available on the state-run firm's procurement website Petronect, under ID number 7004269811.
AHTS units are mainly built to handle anchors for oil rigs, tow them to location and use them to secure the rigs in place
Petrobras has approximately 40 AHTS contracted, according to data surveyed by BNamericas, accounting for about two thirds of the country's fleet.
AHTS charterers include Asgaard, Bram Offshore (Edison Chouest), CBO, DOF, Farstad Shipping, Finarge, Marsk Supply Service and Oceanpact.
The federal oil giant recently announced it plans to hire 200 offshore support vessels, both to replace existing contracts and to increase its fleet.
Of the total, it is estimated that there will be opportunities to build up to 38 new vessels, to help meet new demand and partly renew the fleet with more modern and sustainable units.
Earlier this month, Petrobras launched a tender to charter up to 12 Brazilian-flagged platform supply vessels (PSV).
