Petrobras launches tender for satellite equipment
Brazil’s federal oil company Petrobras has launched a tender for the acquisition of satellite signal transmission and reception equipment.
The reference budget for the purchase is US$1.59mn comprising all items in the tender. The winner will be the company offering the biggest discount per item, according to information on Petrobras’ procurement platform Petronect.
The items sought by the company include power supplies for antennas, encoders, GPS modules, cables and control units.
According to Petrobras, consortiums will not be permitted to participate in the process.
Further information on the call, such as technical details and product requirements, can be found on Petronect under reference number (“opportunity”) 7004268474 or in the Documents box in the top-right corner of the screen.
The deadline for offers is April 29.
As BNamericas recently reported, the company is currently deploying Starlink’s low-orbit devices to enhance offshore connectivity.
“We recently entered into an acquisition agreement with Starlink and we’re testing it on the platforms. Initially, there are around 10 pieces of equipment [being deployed],” the oil company's general ICT manager, Marinho Ayres Fischer, told BNamericas last September.
Starlink’s equipment will be used for connectivity on FPSOs, platforms and vessels in general. Starlink’s first dishes, however, were being deployed on platforms, notably those that have had more connectivity problems, according to the executive, adding initial use is "promising."
