Petrobras launches tender to charter 8 offshore support vessels

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras launched a tender to charter eight RSVs, which are vessels specialized in supporting underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). 

The goal is to perform positioning and geodetic surveying activities, environmental surveying and monitoring, inspection, maintenance, repair and support for the implementation of new submarine systems.

The tender calls for the contracting of new build vessels, with construction concluded as of 2025. 

The duration of the contracts varies between eight and 12 years, with vessel mobilization deadlines ranging from 1,460 to 1,820 days. 

The mobilization period begins when the contract is signed and ends on the date of entry into operation. 

Petrobras will hire up to four vessels per bidder, with the mobilization period for the first two vessels being 1,460 days. For the third vessel, the period is 1,640 days, and for the fourth it is 1,820 days, provided they are all built in the same shipyard.

The tender documents are available on the national oil company’s procurement website Petronect, under ID number 7004319394. 

The tender represents yet another business opportunity for Brazilian shipyards and is part of the government’s efforts of stimulating local industry. 

Petrobras is tendering at least 12 platform supply vessels (PSVs) and 10 oil spill recovery vessels (OSRVs) for construction with 40% minimum local content, and contracts of up to 12 years.
