Petrobras launches tenders for computational fluid platform, cloud software

Brazil’s federal oil company Petrobras launched tenders for the acquisition of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) platform, as well as cloud-based software solutions, as part of a series of tech resources and IT services acquisitions.

CFD uses computers to simulate and analyze the flow of liquids and gases and is applied to predict properties like temperature, pressure, velocity and density.

The technology is used in the oil and gas industry to assess interaction with structures, for example, for predicting cement displacement and erosion.

It can also be used to analyze risks during blowout events and to assess the impact of oil density and viscosity on pump efficiency.

For the tender, Petrobras says the contracted party must provide five independent CFD software licenses, in the subscription on premise modality (at Petrobras’ own datacenters), for modeling explosions, atmospheric dispersion and fire.

The hired company must also provide human resources training and updates, technological innovations and improvements to the software, as well as possible corrections.

The deadline for bids is November 7. The winner will be the one offering the lowest price, said Petrobras.

Further information, including technical requirements, can be found on procurement platform Petronect under reference number 7004320857.

CLOUD SOFTWARE

Petrobras is also seeking cloud-based software for the design of a “peer-assisted oil and gas production system.”

This solution is also expected to be used for modelling and simulations.

The procurement is split into different bidding processes, one of which can be found on Petronect under reference number 7004315163. Bids can be sent by November 1.

“We are seeking a digital tool that can perform conceptual design of oil and gas production systems through integrated phenomenological simulation of reservoirs, multiphase flow, and primary oil processing, incorporating technologies that Petrobras does not typically apply in its projects, as well as innovative solutions,” said the company.

FIBER NETWORK

Meanwhile, BNamericas has learned that Petrobras renewed with environmental watchdog Ibama a permit regarding its fiber optics network project

The renewal refers to the installation permit for the company's fiber network telecommunications master plan comprising the Santos, Campos, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo basins.

Information in Ibama’s database indicates that the installation permit was renewed on September 9 for more than three years, expiring on November 10, 2027.

Petrobras is currently deploying a new fiber network to interconnect its platforms in the Santos and Campos basins. Both projects are being carried out by Blue Marine Telecom, an offshore telco expert from the Zmax group.

As part of the Santos project, Blue Marine finished installing in March the system's trunk network and interconnected, through more than 800km of subsea cables, two landing stations.

The system was due for completion this half.

Meanwhile, the roughly 500km of optical cable for the Campos basin project left China in August.

The Campos network is due for completion in the first quarter of 2025.
