Petrobras seeks to charter offshore maintenance and security units
Brazil’s federal oil firm Petrobras has launched a tender to charter up to five offshore maintenance and security units.
Contract terms vary from 1,700 to 1,760 days. The start-up dates are February 1 or September 1, depending on the contracts.
The tender involves the installation of a waste compaction and dehydration plant to reduce the volume of waste to be handled by the unit and, consequently, the operations with support vessels for waste disposal. The plant should also improve waste storage, handling and disposal processes.
Given the novelty of the equipment required, the contractor may opt not to carry out the installation. Petrobras did not provide further details, other than that the option would result in a discount of US$7,500 on the daily charter rate.
The tender documents are available on Petrobras’ procurement website Petronect under ID number 7004358055.
Potential candidates to compete for the contracts include China Union Offshore Energy, OOS International, Posh and Prosafe.
