Petrobras to sign US$774mn rig construction contract

Brazilian oil giant Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) is to sign a US$774 million contract with Fels Setal and Technip for the construction of the P-52 oil platform. Petrobras has not officially announced the contract, but sources at Fels Setal confirmed it on Wednesday afternoon. The opening bid for the contract was US$774 million, but "Petrobras obtained a 6 million discount and increased costs by another 6 million." explained the source. P-52 is destined for the Roncador field in the Santos basin and is expected to produce 180,000 barrels daily from 2005. by Kelly Lima
