Phoenix submits declaration of commerciality of Brazil oil accumulation

Phoenix Óleo e Gás Natural has submitted to Brazil’s oil and gas regulator ANP the declaration of commerciality of an oil accumulation in central Potiguar basin, onshore Rio Grande do Norte state.

The company named the new field Tanatau, with estimated oil volumes of 3.49 million barrels and recoverable oil volumes of 362,000b in the P50 scenario (50% probability).

The new field is about 32km southeast of Mossoró city and adjacent to the Concriz and Paturi fields.

During the exploratory and appraisal phase, well 1-PHO-1-RN was drilled and assessed, and good quality oil with high commercial value was identified.

The area produced its first oil during a long-term test, which ended on September 19.

Well 1-PHO-1-RN is in block POT-T-565, which has an area of 14.6km2.
