PolyOne expands distribution business

US-based specialized polymer materials company PolyOne (NYSE: POL) plans to expand it distribution business into Costa Rica. The initial focus will be healthcare applications but could be broadened to serve other industries, the company said in a statement. Operations and logistics, as well as sales and customer service functions, will be located in capital San José. "Serving the healthcare industry is a core area of expertise for PolyOne, and this recent investment expands our ability to better support customers in this market," said Robert M Patterson, executive VP and CEO. Costa Rica has more than 30 medical device companies manufacturing locally and in a recent study the World Bank ranked the Central American country a top high-tech exporter in Latin America.
