Potosi supports Sucre intermodal port

Bnamericas
A proposal to create an intermodal terminal near Sucre, capital of Bolivia's Chuquisaca department, has won approval from neighboring Potosi department authorities, Correo del Sur reported. Authorities confirmed their intention to move forward with the proposal but highlighted that the Sucre-Potosi railroad will require rehabilitation investment. The Sucre-Potosi-Antofagasta railroad would constitute half of the intermodal route. Representatives from exporters, rail company Ferroviaria Andina, Chuquisaca department railroad operators, and Santa Cruz department officials, met recently to discuss a proposal to develop the terminal for Bolivia's soy bean exports. The proposal calls for the construction of a dry goods storage and rail-loading terminal near Sucre with capacity to ship 1,000t/d of soy to the Chilean Pacific Ocean port of Antofagasta. Over 300,000t/y of soy are transported from eastern Bolivia to the Pacific Coast.
