Puerto Rico's state power company Prepa has reached an agreement with poultry company Empresas Picú regarding the latter's US$1.3mn debt to the utility, local paper El Nuevo Día reported. The agriculture department put up an initial payment of US$400,000, allowing Picú to avoid having its power supply cut by the Friday noon deadline for payment. The payment will be made in the week of May 10, Prepa spokesperson Virgina Gomez told BNamericas. Picú is responsible for paying the remainder of the debt as outlined by the agreement.
