Pres. authorizes Galápagos potable water financing

Ecuador's President Lucio Gutiérrez has issued a decree approving funds to install potable water infrastructure on the Galápagos islands, the presidency reported. The decree authorizes the economy and finance ministry to sign a US$9.96mn loan agreement with Deutsche Bank that will go to the "Provisión de Sistemas de Agua Potable para las Islas Galápagos" project. The urban development and housing ministry will carry out the project that will benefit residents on the islands of San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, Isabela and Floreana.
