President Abinader inaugurates auxiliary dock and starts work for energy projects in Manzanillo, Montecristi

Montecristi.-The energy and port development of the northwest region continues to advance with the inauguration of the auxiliary dock in Manzanillo Bay , headed by President Luis Abinader , as well as the progress of projects that will contribute a total of approximately 1,200 MW to the national electrical system.

On the other hand, the president started work on the construction of the Early Gas Maritime Fuel Reception Terminal , which will allow the storage of natural gas and other fuels for the operation of the thermoelectric plant and other energy projects in the area.

For his part, the president of Energía 2000, Jaime Santana , thanked President Abinader for having him as an ally in the construction of the work that will provide development to the region and stated that these achievements are not only concrete and steel structures, but they are the tangible result of fruitful collaboration between government and business.

“This support promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader has permeated his entire administration, ensuring that the institutions have assumed a stellar role as facilitators, providing the support and timely adaptation to successfully fulfill each function.”

At the event, the progress of the Block 1 and Block 2 energy projects was presented, consisting of two power generation plants with a net capacity of 420 MW each, for a total of 840 MW of efficient generation from natural gas.

More investments, jobs, clean technologies and sustainability

The investments that these projects entail promote the creation of jobs , the development of infrastructure and the promotion of clean and efficient technologies.

In addition, they promote progress and sustainability in the country's energy and port sector.

With these initiatives, Manzanillo is positioned as a strategic nucleus for the economic growth of the Dominican Republic, attracting investments, improving infrastructure and promoting long-term sustainable development.

Paving

Finally, the infrastructure improvements at the Manzanillo terminal were presented, highlighting the paving that was completed in May of this year, with an investment of USD 6.9 million . It covered more than 45,000 square meters and was carried out in 5 stages.
