President Abinader launches construction of Santo Domingo Oeste Cable Car, which will impact 400,000 people

Santo Domingo. - President Luis Abinader announced the construction of the Santo Domingo Oeste Cable Car, which will connect six districts with the Duarte Highway and will have an investment of 250 million dollars.

Likewise, during LA Semanal con la Prensa, he detailed other projects in progress and already completed, with the purpose of improving the quality of life in that municipality.

Cable car

This third line of the Cable Car will connect kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway with the sectors: Buenos Aires de Herrera, Pintura (on 27 de Febrero), Ensanche La Altagracia, Café de Herrera, Sánchez Highway and Puerto de Haina.

It will have capacity for 4,500 passengers per hour, in each direction, with a total journey time of 20 minutes and will benefit 400,000 people.

This transport service will have 7 stations: La María Montes at kilometer 9, Buenos Aires de Herrera, Pintura, Ensanche Altagracia, Café de Herrera, Carretera Sánchez and the Haina station.

Guajimia canyon

Caasd will continue the cleanup of the Guajimía ravine , starting, before the end of 2024, the second phase of the first stage, with the tender to intervene in the remaining 2.2 kilometers. It is recalled that 3.2 kilometers have already been cleaned.

For the benefit of the citizens, the Government has delivered 200 apartments in Engombe for displaced persons and another 144 are being completed in Hato Nuevo, for a total of 344 units.

Judicial City

For its part, Mived continues the construction of the Santo Domingo Oeste Judicial City, which will include the buildings of the Judiciary, Public Prosecutor's Office, Public Defense, a plaza and green areas, in an area of 24,795 square meters. The work is 35% complete.

The Judiciary will have three levels and one underground level, 18 courtrooms and a secretarial services and forensic interview center.

The Public Prosecutor's Office will have three levels with a detention area with capacity for 120 men, 120 women and 20 children and adolescents ; there will also be a room for the identification of detainees and a conciliation room.

The Public Defense Office will have three levels with a service area, receptions, a waiting room and administrative offices.

Road solutions

The Ministry of Public Works is also working on a road solution around Plaza de la Bandera, a project with an approximate length of 1.02 kilometers and two lanes in each direction, north-south.

The Isabel Aguiar overpass will be 480 meters long and have three sections with two lanes in both directions to allow an express flow of vehicles, improving circulation on 27 de Febrero Avenue, between the National District, Santo Domingo Oeste and the 6 de Noviembre highway.

At the 6 de Noviembre interchange, the existing ramp will be modified, creating three additional ramps, two of which will have two lanes that will serve as operational return lanes for both directions of the 27 de Febrero Extension. The third ramp will have three lanes and will serve as a marginal lane for the 27 de Febrero Extension.

Finally, the operational return of the 27 de Febrero Extension will have five lanes in an east-west direction, two for U-turns and three for those who will continue in that direction.

Completed works

It was detailed that the reconstruction of the Los Beisbolistas-Batey Bienvenido-Quita Sueño avenue was completed and the construction of the Cordillera avenue was concluded.
