Santiago.- President Luis Abinader continues his transformation of the country and this Sunday he inaugurated the first section of the Santiago cable car, a project built with an investment of RD 6,544 million and which will directly impact around 74,000 inhabitants of nine of the most populous sectors of that city.

President Abinader explained that more than 6.5 billion pesos have been invested in the work and around 74,000 inhabitants of nine of the most populous sectors of the city of Santiago will be directly impacted.

About the Santiago cable car

The Santiago cable car is a cable transport system composed of 129 cabins with detachable clamps, with the capacity to transport 4,000 passengers per hour and in each direction, and will have a daily transport capacity of 64,000 people.

This first section of the system includes 4 kilometers that go from the La Yagüita del Pastor sector to the Las Carreras Central Terminal in Pueblo Nuevo, with 4 stations: E1: Central Station, E2: Emiliano Tardif Station, E3: Renée Klang de Guzmán Station and E4: Yolanda Santana Station. Special service schedule of the Santiago Cable Car in its introductory phase:

In this first phase of education, the Santiago cable car will be offering services at special times to facilitate the city's citizens adopting the use of the system.

These schedules are:

• From March 18 to 31

• Monday to Friday from 8 to 10 in the morning.

• Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 4 to 6:00 p.m.


• From the 1st. as of April 30:

• Monday to Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m and from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

• Sundays and holidays 12 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.


• Starting on the 1st. In May the schedule will be:

• Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

• Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
