The residents of El Chorrillo will be able to enjoy the renovation of its streets because this Wednesday the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen , delivered the order to proceed with the project to complete an urban renewal that will comprehensively improve the road, rainwater and sanitary infrastructure of the corregimiento .
The order to proceed, delivered in the presence of the Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge , involves the study, design, construction and financing for the renovation of the urban infrastructure of El Chorrillo, at a cost of B/.65.2 million, and will be executed by the contractor company Centroequipos , SA
“This is a work that will change the lives of the fighting people of this historic neighborhood of our city. In addition, we are going to build two parks; and I am pleased to announce that we will rehabilitate the emblematic Parque de los Aburridos, which is a symbol of the joyful spirit of the people of El Chorrillo," President Cortizo said at the ceremony held outside the Maracaná stadium.
The president stressed that these works will facilitate the transit of people and vehicles through the streets of El Chorrillo, making them safer; and with the improvements to the aqueduct, sewerage and drinking water network system, the neighborhood will be healthier and more prosperous.
For his part, Minister Sabonge pointed out that this project will be built with the labor of the residents of El Chorrillo because a social aspect of helping the community with the work is contemplated.
The project contemplates 43 sections of streets, from Calle 13 to Calle 27, segmented into 25 groups of branches, with an approximate length of 8.6 kilometers, and was tendered under the turnkey modality. The work will benefit a resident population estimated at 20 thousand people.
The works include improvements in the sanitary sewer system, aqueducts and potable water networks; the design and construction of the pavement structure, the drainage system and storm drains. Also, the design and construction of pedestrian sidewalks for schools, churches, health centers, sports centers, public parks, as well as road safety signage.
Present at this act were Librada Jisell De Frías, Vice Minister of Public Works; Carla García, governor of the province of Panama; leaders of the New Generation Movement and representative of the contractor company, among others.
