Santa Cruz, March 6, 2020 (AN / YPFB) .- The president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Jeanine Añez, announced Friday the discovery of two hydrocarbon reservoirs, one of natural gas and another of oil, located in Chuquisaca and Santa Cross, respectively.

“I want to announce that in the last hours our national company YPFB has made two very important findings for our country. The well located in Santa Cruz will start producing oil in about a month, "said the president.

The president made the announcement during her speech at the signing of the Eighth Addendum to the Purchase and Sale Contract of natural gas between YPFB and Petrobras, held at a hotel in the city of Santa Cruz.

“All the technical information we have available so far is very encouraging, technical work is still being carried out to verify the dimensions of both findings. However, everything indicates that it will be good news for all Bolivians, the technical work and development of this gas and oil reserve is in the hands of our national company YPFB, which also fills us with great pride, ”he said.

THE FIND

For his part, the president of YPFB, Herland Soliz, explained that it is the Yaará X-1 wells, located in the municipality of Yapacaní, whose drilling is 4,000 meters deep. "This well has already reached the estimated depth, production tests have already been carried out, which indicate that they can reach approximately 400 barrels per day (BPD)," he said.

As for the new gas discovery, the president of YPFB explained that the drilling of the Sipotindi X-1 well, already exceeded 5,300 meters deep and is intended to reach 5,900 meters.

“We have not yet reached the target depth, but we have already detected the presence of natural gas. We are in the Huamampampa formation, the same geological formation that produces hydrocarbons from the Incahuasi, San Alberto, San Antonio and Margarita fields. Both wells have been drilled in new fields, "said the state oil executive.

The work carried out in both wells was carried out with one hundred percent Bolivian personnel.
