UCOM MHE-ENDE 09-23-23.- As part of the commemorative works for the anniversary of Santa Cruz, President Luis Arce began the construction of the Warnes II Wind Farm, which includes the incorporation of eight new wind turbines that will inject 36 MW (megawatts ) of wind energy to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
“In Warnes we see significant wind potential and that is why we decided to implement these renewable energy generation works. Thanks to the potential that this area has, we expanded the wind farm with Warnes II, a project that will increase the power of our system,” said the Head of State, highlighting the work of the National Electricity Company (ENDE). In this regard , the Vice Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Edgar Caero, stated that “this project is transcendental within the framework of the energy transition, which means that we are moving towards cleaner energies to guarantee the growing electricity demand of Santa Cruz.”
The work, which will be executed by ENDE, located in facilities of the Latin American Industrial Park in the municipality of Warnes, and in accordance with the Government's industrialization policies, will contribute to providing the necessary strength to the industries located in the place and which, when interconnected to the SIN , will also benefit the Bolivian population.
The project will have a cost greater than 417 million bolivianos, financed by the French Development Agency (AFD), Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) and ENDE's own resources; The wind turbines will be connected to the SIN at a voltage level of 115 kV (kilovolts).
This work will contribute to reducing the emission of approximately 56,668 Tons of CO2 (tons of carbon dioxide) each year and will allow the country to save 1,026,391.7 Mcf/year (millions of cubic feet per year) of gas.
The eight WINDEY brand model WD156-450 wind turbines are of Chinese origin and have a unit power of 4.5 MW, which will allow an annual net generation of 94.4 MWh (megawatt hours).
Bolivia, through ENDE, intends to increase the power of the SIN and reach 75% of electrical energy generated by 2025 through clean and renewable energy sources with low environmental and social impact.
