Private equity firm Ainda acquiring 112MW of Mexico solar power capacity
Private equity firm Ainda Energía & Infraestructura has agreed to buy six renewable energy projects in northern Mexico with total installed capacity of 112MW.
Ainda said in a social media post on March 19 that it will acquire an 85% stake in the assets in Durango state from Spanish engineering company TSK Electrónica y Electricidad.
Developer Eosol Energy will hold the remaining 15% stake.
According to BNamericas records, the assets are solar power plants.
In its 2024 annual report, TSK says it is selling energy assets in Mexico and other countries to reduce debt and strengthen its balance sheet.
Ainda did not provide financial details.
It said the acquisition "confirms Ainda's commitment to the development of renewable energy and strengthens its presence in Mexico's energy sector."
Ainda announced the deal the same week that new laws came into force in Mexico that are designed to accelerate the development of clean energy.
Ainda's other renewable energy assets in Mexico include a minority stake in a 216MW portfolio of three solar plants in the northern state of Chihuahua.
Those plants are operated by Zuma, which is owned by China's State Power Investment Corporation via its China Power International Holding subsidiary.
