In the first quarter, Canadian company Lundin Gold achieved production of 117,313oz at its Fruta del Norte gold mine in Ecuador, marking a 5% year-on-year increase.
Of the total quarterly production, 75,494oz was produced as concentrate and 41,819oz as doré, the company reported in a statement.
During the first three months of the year, the mill processed 398,159t of ore, with an average throughput of 4,424t/d and an average grade of 10.4g/t, with recoveries reaching 88.5%.
“2025 is off to a strong start, highlighted by the successful completion of our plant expansion project,” said Ron Hochstein, president and CEO of Lundin.
In February, Lundin announced that proven and probable reserves at Fruta del Norte had increased to 5.54Moz, with an average gold grade of 7.81g/t.
This year, the Canadian company plans to invest US$45mn in exploration in Ecuador, a level similar to that of last year.
