Progress is recorded in public infrastructure and health projects presented in the Monitoring Office

Panama, May 8, 2023 . For this week, progress has been made in projects for the construction and rehabilitation of streets, sports centers, as well as in Health Centers and their equipment for the benefit of the Panamanian population, announced at the weekly meeting of the Cabinet for Monitoring Execution and Commitments , led by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen .

The Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge , highlighted the works that are being carried out in various parts of the country such as Loma Tólica, rehabilitation of the highway to Santa Catalina; as well as the rehabilitation of the Ocú-Las Minas-Valle Rico-Señales highway.

He also referred to the commitments of Con Comarca and its progress. Patching of streets and the Pan-American Highway of the East. He also highlighted the inauguration of the streets of Antón this Friday.

While the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre , pointed out that there are works about to be inaugurated, such as the delivery of medical equipment at the Anita Moreno Hospital, Los Santos; as well as the Water Laboratory in Veraguas. Regarding the Supplies and Medicines warehouse, located in Villa Lorena, it could be working by Monday.

In addition, he presented the advances in the Copé Maternal and Child Center, which is 97.5% complete, benefiting more than 5,700 people, one of the projects rescued by this administration. He also highlighted the progress in the Kuna Nega Health Center, which has reached 99%.

Minister Sucre pointed out that last week the meeting was held with the team of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to discuss issues such as the Oncological Hospital, Modular Hospital, among other issues and he hopes that this week they can meet again, since that some required documents have already been delivered and thus maintain the technical table.

For its part, Pandeportes highlighted the projects such as the approval of the time addendum for the Rico Cedeño stadium, whose delivery is estimated for the month of September and is currently 61% complete. As well as the endorsement of the addendum for the Toco Castillo stadium in Veraguas, which registers 52% progress and is one of the projects rescued by the current administration.

As for the Mariano Bula stadium, inspections have been redoubled to closely monitor all the work being carried out and move forward.

Government Minister Roger Tejada pointed out that work has already begun for the construction of the Rehabilitation Center in Pacora, in addition to the adaptations of the Villa Lucre center. He also highlighted projects that are carried out with the World Bank.

While the Ministry of Education, through its owner Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, indicated that for this week they would be attending the Budget Commission to see some transfers of items and indicated the progress of some projects.

The Minister of Housing, Rogelio Paredes, pointed out in his speech that Altos de los Lagos second stage will begin this month after being endorsed by the Comptroller's Office; He also referred to the project of Nuevo Cartí and Recuperando Mi Barrio de Río Alejandro in Colón.

While Juan Ducruet, director of the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), spoke about the environmental situation and the levels of the lakes.

The weekly meeting of the Execution and Commitment Monitoring Cabinet seeks to speed up works that are a priority for the benefit of the community.

One of the objectives of the meetings is for the entities to work in an aligned manner adhering to the Government Action Plan Uniting Forces and the commitments acquired through the Bicentennial Pact.
