The president of the National Electricity Administration, Eng. Félix Sosa and the Director of Planning and Studies, Eng. Francisco Escudero, participated on the morning of this Monday, July 8, in the presentation of the progress of the “National Hydrogen Strategy Green” at the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank. This event was organized and convened by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy (VMME) of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), with the support of the IDB.
The objective of the presentation of progress of the National Green Hydrogen Strategy is to provide an updated and detailed view of the progress made in this strategic area. It seeks to generate a sustainable and competitive framework for the production of green hydrogen by promoting innovation, investment and partnerships in the energy sector.
During the meeting, the main aspects of the strategy, progress, work pillars, with their respective line of action and measures, were presented, in addition to specific details such as internal use of hydrogen, development of the economy, and good practices in the field of regulation, governance, regulatory framework, socialization, etc.
Experts from the consulting firm Deloitte Advisory of Spain presented their analyzes and recommendations based on market studies and global trends. Afterwards there was a discussion with those present about the next steps and how to overcome the identified obstacles by addressing the specific challenges and opportunities of Paraguay.
Also participating in the important meeting were Javier Giménez, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Mauricio Bejarano, Vice Minister of Mines and Energy; Rodrigo Maluff, Vice Minister of the Investment and Export Network (REDIEX) of the MIC; Gustavo Cazal, Director of Alternative Energies of the VMME and, for the IDB, Alonso Chaverri, IDB Representative in Paraguay; Manuel Fernandini, Head of Operations at the IDB; Veronica R. Prado, Senior Energy Specialist; Sergio Arguello, Energy consultant. Representatives of Deloitte, a consulting firm selected through a selective process for the preparation of the National Green Hydrogen Strategy, were connected virtually.
It is worth mentioning that green hydrogen presents a great opportunity for Paraguay to be one of the relevant players in the region for the production of hydrogen and its derivatives thanks to the strategic situation of its resources in relation to hydrogen (land, water resources, cost energetic).
