In February, the Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN plans to award four electrical projects, which make up the comprehensive package of Group 3, and which will benefit 2.3 million inhabitants in Apurímac, Arequipa, Puno and Lima.
The estimated investment for this package of electrical projects amounts to US$ 168 million and five companies are prequalified for the successful award of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) concession for a period of 30 years.
Group 3 is part of the 2023-2032 electric transmission projects that the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) commissioned to the agency for promotion and award.
This latest comprehensive package includes the New Palca 220 kV Substation, the 220 kV Palca-La Pascana Transmission Line in Arequipa, with an investment of US$ 64 million to improve the transmission and transformation security of the electrical system.
The 220 kV Planicie – Industriales link in Lima for US$ 21 million aimed at supporting the transmission line and expansion of a substation and, in addition, the 138 kV Abancay Nueva – Andahuaylas – Apurímac link aimed at improving the reliability and capacity of the electrical system with an investment of US$ 32 million and the 138 kV Derivación San Rafael – Ananea link (Puno), where US$ 51 million will be allocated to a project that will benefit the residents of Azángaro.
With this, PROINVERSIÓN contributes to strengthening the transmission system and electric power substations that will have an impact on the domestic sector, productive, commercial and service activities in the country.
Closing the gap
Likewise, the next Group 3 concession process will allow the completion of the award of 25 electric transmission projects for more than US$ 2.3 billion, carried out between January 2023 and February 2025, commissioned by the MINEM, for the expansion and modernization of the national network that will benefit more than 14 million inhabitants.
Indeed, the awarded projects seek to strengthen energy infrastructure and provide better service to homes and industrial, commercial and service companies in Amazonas, Ancash, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Huánuco, Ica, Junín, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Piura, San Martín and Ucayali.
