This Thursday, August 29, the Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN will award five electrical transmission and substation projects, for more than US$ 441 million, which will benefit 4 million inhabitants in Lima, Ica and Ayacucho.

The contract is part of Group 2 of integrated electrical projects and includes the “500 kV Chilca CTM-Carabayllo Transmission Line - Third Circuit”; “New Bicentennial 500/220 kV Substation”; “Reconfiguration of the 220 kV Chavarría - Santa Rosa - Carapongo Link”; “New 220 kV Muyurina Substation, New Ayacucho Substation, 220 kV Muyurina-Ayacucho Transmission Line”; and “Expansion of the Ica Electrical System Supply Capacity ( ITC Project )”.

The concession will be awarded under the Comprehensive Project Competition modality to the sole bidder whose offer represents the lowest total service cost, in accordance with the provisions of the rules, and whose obligation will be to design, finance, build, operate and maintain the aforementioned projects. Likewise, three bidders have been qualified, Alupar Perú SAC , Interconexión Eléctrica SAESP and Atlántica Perú SA, to present their economic proposals this Thursday, August 29.

The execution of the projects will allow for the reinforcement of the supply of electric energy, as well as providing greater reliability and transmission capacity for the benefit of the economy and industrial, commercial and service activities in Lima, Ica and Ayacucho. Furthermore, it will be executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with a concession for 30 years of commercial operation, plus the time required for the construction of each electric project.

It should be noted that the units to be awarded this week are part of a package of 18 electrical projects that the Ministry of Energy and Mines commissioned to PROINVERSIÓN, in February 2023, within the framework of the 2023-2032 Transmission Plan.

Of these, in June of this year, the agency awarded Group 1, consisting of three electrical projects (US$ 329 million) that will benefit 1 million people in Ica and Arequipa. Meanwhile, in September 2024, Group 3 is scheduled to be awarded, consisting of four electrical projects (US$ 134 million) with an impact on 2.3 million inhabitants in Lima, Arequipa, Apurímac and Puno.

And before the end of the year, Group 4 will be awarded, consisting of three projects (US$ 101 million) that will benefit more than 700 thousand people from Ucayali (Padre Abad and Coronel Portillo), Junín (Chanchamayo) and Áncash (Huaylas and Huaraz).
