ProInversion Statement
This is an automated translation of the press release issued in Spanish
Before the end of 2024, the Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN plans to declare four private initiatives of interest that will represent an estimated investment of US$ 527 million for high-impact sectors such as sanitation and education that will be developed in Lima, Cajamarca, Ica and San Martín.
The package to be declared of interest is made up of three Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) located in Chincha (US$ 96.5 million), Cajamarca (US$ 70 million) and San Martín (US$ 105 million).
It also includes the private co-financed initiative of Schools at Risk (CER) in Metropolitan Lima for US$ 255 million, through which 13 educational institutions will be built and modernized for the benefit of thousands of children in regular basic education.
Following the declaration of interest, a 90-calendar-day window will open in each case for any third party to present an expression of interest; otherwise, PROINVERSIÓN will proceed with the direct award of projects to their respective proponents, in accordance with the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) Law. However, if one or more third parties are interested in an initiative, the agency will proceed to carry out the public tender (selection process).
This means that some of the four projects detailed above may be awarded directly in the first quarter of 2025 and, in cases where they would be put to public tender, the awards could be made in the second half of next year.
IMPORTANT PROGRESS
In the first half of 2024, PROINVERSIÓN awarded six public-private investment projects with an investment commitment of US$5.07 billion, the highest investment amount in the last 10 years, and in the second half it expects to award 17 projects for more than US$3 billion in strategic sectors such as electricity, sanitation, roads, railways, health and industrial development.
By 2025, it is planned to award 43 PPP and Asset Projects for US$ 8,343 million and in 2026 another 27 public-private projects that require an investment of US$ 8,617 million.
