PRESS RELEASE from SERC Chile
October 2023
Market anomalies, the quest to promote greater infrastructure, the entry of new investments and transmission networks are some of the challenges that Chile faces to achieve a sustainable energy transition and satisfy the demands of future energy consumption. These aspects will be analyzed in the upcoming seminar “NCRE Curtailment: Are the decarbonization goals in danger?”, which will be held at the Nodo Hotel on October 24, at 9:00 a.m.
The meeting – organized by SERC Chile and sponsored by Acera and Acesol – aims to integrate the various visions and perspectives that contemplate the national energy ecosystem, in order to draw a roadmap on the various alternatives and storage technologies available.
The director of SERC Chile, Claudia Rahmann, highlights the urgency and relevance of the energy transition. "It is essential that we be an active part of this debate. This seminar seeks precisely to generate that space for dialogue, considering the different perspectives, market visions and the implementation of new public policies," he commented.
In turn, Rahmann adds that “the challenges we face in terms of energy require a joint effort. Collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential. This event is a perfect opportunity to listen to diverse voices and understand the magnitude and urgency of the change we need to meet the decarbonization goals that Chile has set for itself.”
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature presentations by prominent national and international experts, who will meet to offer valuable insights and encourage a constructive debate. In this sense, the program agenda includes a keynote presentation by the representative of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the United States Government, Judith Vidal, who will illustrate thermal energy storage solutions.
Added to this view is the vision of the executive director of the National Electrical Coordinator, Ernesto Huber, who will present the CEN's vision of the national electrical panorama. Meanwhile, the head of Studies and Planning at Cerro Dominador, Fernando Flatow, will outline the path forward for a solid energy transition.
Also, the executive director of the Chilean Association of Solar Energy AG, ACESOL, will present the presentation “Look at the solar energy sector”, which seeks to offer a deep and updated perspective of the current state and future trends of solar energy in Chile.
To close, the meeting will feature a discussion panel moderated by the prominent economist Claudio Agostini, and representatives of organizations such as Acera, Acesol, the National Energy Commission, the National Electrical Coordinator, Grupo Cerro and SERC Chile.
In-person event with live broadcast.
