Public engagement on tap ahead of Peru upstream acreage offer

Peru’s hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro has scheduled citizen participation meetings ahead of a planned offer of northwest blocks.

Events will be held June 25-27 for onshore areas I and VI, and offshore area Z-69 in the districts of Pariñas, Lobitos, El Alto, La Brea and Los Órganos in Piura region.

National oil company Petroperú operates the blocks under temporary license contracts which in the case of I and VI end in October 2025 and November 2025 for Z-69.

The NOC took over the areas when the previous contracts expired last year. Maps are available in the Documents box in the top right corner.

Year to date, crude production has averaged 450b/d at block I, 1,773b/d at block VI and 4,642b/d at Z-69, together accounting for 17% of total oil output in the period, according to Perupetro information.

Meanwhile, the government agency reported that it met with Jaguar Exploration, which together with Global Oil and Gas, holds a technical evaluation agreement for area LXXXVI in the Tumbes basin.

Perupetro said that Jaguar expressed hydrocarbon potential of “interest” to the consortium from technical studies being carried out.
