Chilean Region X Puerto Montt state port operator Empresa Portuaria Puerto Montt (EPPM) posted a 237mn peso (US$375,000) net profit in the first nine months, up 2.68% from the same period last year, For the period, revenue increased 3.42% to 1.17bn pesos and operating profit grew 14.9% 390mn pesos, EPPM said in a statement to the country's securities regulator, the SVS. The port moved 434,088t of cargo in 2002. It is also a major stop for cruise ships, with a little over 71,000 passengers expected to visit the port during the 2003-2004 season, up 9.69% from 2002-2003.
