Puerto Rico seeks firms for airport refurbishment works

Puerto Rican port authority APPR launched a call for firms interested in participating in airport refurbishment programs, local media reported.

APPR published the RFQ on Monday for companies interested in planning and designing repair works that are part of an improvement program for 2024-29 aimed at complying with the standards of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The works include paving runways, ramps, taxiways and other areas at Mayagüez, Arecibo, Culebra, Vieques, Humacao and Mercedita airports.

The winners of the contracts will develop blueprints and specifications that will be used for construction work.

According to newspaper El Nuevo Día, APPR’s CEO Joel Pizá Batiz said the projects will be financed with US federal funds. Interested firms must contact APPR by email at airport.rfq@prpa.pr.gov by February 28.
