Bnamericas

Puerto Rico's water authority AAA posted revenue in line with its budget for the nine-month period ended in March.

The company recorded US$772mn in revenue from July 2013 through March compared to the US$775mn it had projected in its budget.

AAA spent US$531mn maintaining and operating its 121 filtration plants, 52 sanitation plants, 24 offices, 1,778 pumping stations and 32,200km of pipelines.

The utility used US$232mn to pay down debt, and invested US$135mn in infrastructure during the period. Most of the funds were allotted to projects required by the US environmental protection agency (EPA).

Under obligations to the EPA, AAA is required to make a US$3.4bn capital investment by 2025, or approximately US$300mn each year.

Key investment projects include the US$2.99mn improvement works to the Orocovis filtration plant; the US$9.27mn interconnection works between the Costa Norte water pipeline and Arecibo's water distribution system, and the US$8.36mn rehabilitation of sewerage networks in San Juan.
