Quadra drills B2X well to 1,189m

Canadian oil company Quadra Resources had drilled the B2X exploratory well on its 100%-owned Iraca block in northeast Colombia to a total depth of 1,189m on January 4, the company said in a statement Wednesday. The drilling program went according to schedule and found anticipated formations, the statement said. Previously, the company said that it expected drilling to penetrate the La Luna and Maracas formations in the Becerill structure, which Quadra estimates to have a resource potential of 250 billion cubic feet of natural gas. Electrical logging operations were due to begin January 5 and once received, the company will begin placing production casing in the well, the statement added. Houston-based Pride Drilling Services started drilling the well on December 19 and cased-hole testing is set to run for two weeks from January 8. The B2-X well is located 150m northwest of the B1-X well that Quadra drilled in September 2003.
