Quito seeks to replace US$1.2bn water treatment project

Quito wants to replace the US$1.2bn Vindobona water treatment project with three smaller plants worth US$437mn combined.

The facilities should still cover Quito and some rural areas, according to a press release.

Vindobona is part of a decontamination and quality improvement program focused on rivers that receive sewage discharges from the capital. On Monday, mayor Pabel Muñoz will present 18 related projects, including the three plants, to investors and discuss the best financing and public-private cooperation options.

Muñoz seeks US$6bn for security infrastructure and equipment, sustainable mobility, public spaces and environmental issues.
