Refidomsa presents a new report that quantifies the existence of hydrocarbons in several basins of the country

Santo Domingo. -The Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa) presented the third executive report on hydrocarbon research in various basins of the country, with the novelty that a new edition confirms the existence of tangible oil in the national territory.

The study, conducted by Refidomsa's Oil and Gas Exploration and Exploitation Research Unit in collaboration with the Pedro Henríquez Ureña University (UNPHU), is the most recent of three reports presented this year, revealing in this edition the probable existence of more than 498 million barrels in the areas studied.

During her speech at the press presentation, Refidomsa's general manager, Yamily López, explained that the estimate of the probable volume of hydrocarbons that these results show was found in the Azua, Cibao Occidental, Cibao Oriental and Enriquillo basins.

He highlighted that the findings justify the efforts and determination of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, "in suggesting that in 2022 we create the Unit that has carried out this work in Refidomsa."
