Refidomsa reveals new findings in the second report on the existence of hydrocarbons in national basins

The Dominican Oil Refinery (Refidomsa), in collaboration with the Pedro Henríquez Ureña University (UNPHU), has presented the second executive report on new investigations to determine the existence of hydrocarbons in various basins of the country.
The report, called “Geochemical modeling in the Azua, San Juan, Cibao and Enriquillo basins,” was released at an event held at the UNPHU facilities.
The general manager of Refidomsa, Yamily López, highlighted the importance of these studies, both for national development and for the company.
“The reports presented, including the latest one released today, are the result of exhaustive scientific investigations carried out by our dedicated technical team. These efforts are part of a strategy directed by Dr. Leonardo Aguilera, president of the Board of Directors, to deepen the knowledge of our oil basins,” López explained.
He added that the information collected is of high strategic value for the Dominican State, “and as we operate with total transparency, the details of our investigations are available to potential foreign and national investors who want to venture into this field for commercial purposes.” .
“This information is vital to know where we should go in the next stages, because as our valuable and qualified professionals involved have determined, the scientific survey allows us to go to processes aimed at an objective with a high percentage of probability of being successful. ”, highlighted the executive.
The first report, released in February, had already noted the presence of promising geological formations in terms of hydrocarbons. These preliminary results motivated the continuation and expansion of the research.
Dr. Gregorio Rosario, deputy director of the Oil and Gas Research and Exploration Unit of Refidomsa and coordinator of the team, indicated that the results obtained from the geochemical model demonstrate that the source rocks in the studied basins have reached the necessary conditions of depth, pressure and temperature for the generation of oil, placing them in a geologically significant time.
The study ensures that these scientific findings will support the continuation of research, with the aim of accurately and reliably documenting the existence of oil and natural gas in the national territory.
Among those responsible for the investigation, in addition to Gregorio Rosario, Vera Cedeño Pérez, Ricardo Reynoso Villafaña, Mario García González, Mauricio Vásquez, Claudia Acra, Rosill Rodríguez, Gian Caolo and Johnny Gregorio Cedeño also participated.
