RIGHTS

Mexican sector regulator IFT will put out to public consultation the preliminary draft of the general guidelines for audience rights involving concessionaires of broadcast and pay TV services.

The consultation will be in place from August 5-30 and more information can be accessed via this link.

DIGITAL GOVERNMENT

Costa Rican ICT ministry Micitt published the national standard for digital technologies (CNTD), which all public institutions will have to adhere to.

It contains a set of best practices for the acquisition, development and management of digital technologies and services in the public sector. Procedures relating to the defense of the State and national security are exempt from its application.

NUMBER TRANSFERS

Guatemalan regulator SIT published a draft modification for the regime allowing the transfer of phone numbers between operators.

COMTELCA

Dominican regulator Indotel assumed the 2024-25 pro-tempore presidency of Central American telecom coordination body Comtelca.

Comtelca is made up of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

“In this new chapter, from the Dominican Republic we reaffirm our commitment to move forward, to innovate, to adapt to changes in the technological environment and to continue building bridges that strengthen connectivity and development in our region,” said Indotel president Nestor Arroyo.
