Costa Rica's President Luis Guillermo Solís (pictured, first from right) participated in state power company ICE's startup of an expansion at the Cachí hydroelectric plant that takes the plant's capacity to 160MW from 100MW.
Also from the country, public services regulator Aresep approved distribution grid access rates for small-scale generators that range from 48,687 to 1.29mn colones (US$90-2,400), depending on meter type.

The US Trade and Development Agency awarded a grant to Haitian company Enèji Pwòp for a feasibility study to assess and rank the viability of developing pre-pay electricity micro-grids in approximately 100 Haitian towns.
