Roundup: Copa Airlines, Teleskill Italia, Digicel, Fitch

Panama's Copa Airlines (NYSE: CPA) has introduced mobile check-in and boarding pass delivery from NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), Copa said in a statement. Copa travelers can now visit m.copaair.com, a mobile-optimized site, to check flight status and timetables, as well as check in for their flights. An electronic boarding pass is then delivered to their mobile device, allowing them to bypass the check-in counter and proceed directly to security. NCR, which already provides self-service kiosks for Copa, is also integrating web check-in capability, so passengers who choose to check-in on their PC can then receive a mobile boarding pass delivered to their handsets. *** Italian e-learning technology provider Teleskill Italia has partnered with Puerto Rican online education specialist RH Interactivo for commercializing its Teleskill Live Videoconference platform in Latin America, Teleskill said in a statement. The Puerto Rican company has a range of partners to which it offers several solutions to optimize business processes optimization, online training and e-learning. According to Teleskill, although virtual education is undergoing sustained growth, the absence of a consistent government policy represents a barrier to integrating technology in education and training. While the public sector is the main driver for industrial development, the corporate sector is the main adopter of e-learning in the region, Teleskill said. In several countries, including Chile, Mexico and Brazil, recent economic growth is laying the groundwork for a breakthrough toward the digital, the company added. *** Canadian bank Scotiabank and Caribbean mobile telco Digicel have won the 2011 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award for Consumer Service Innovation for their TchoTcho mobile wallet service launched in Haiti, the companies said in a statement. "We believe TchoTcho Mobile will change the way people live and make transactions. With over 2.4mn subscribers and delivering 95% population coverage and the largest retail network, Digicel is uniquely placed to deliver mobile money services successfully," said Digicel Group CEO Colm Delves. The service allows customers to perform basic banking functions, such as withdrawals, deposits and domestic money transfer to another mobile user. Global Telecoms Business magazine is part of Euromoney Institutional Investor, an international B2B business media group focused on the international finance sector. *** Fitch Ratings has upgraded ratings for Irish-owned Caribbean mobile telco Digicel Group Limited (DGL) and sister companies Digicel Limited (DL) and Digicel International Finance Limited (DIFL), Fitch said in a statement. The agency upgraded its rating of DGL's US$1bn, 8.875% senior subordinated notes due 2015 to B-/RR5 from CCC+/RR5. DL's long-term issuer default rating was upgraded to B from B-, while DIFL's senior secured credit facility was upgraded to B+/RR3 from B/RR3.
