Colombian utility Emcali deployed energy platform developer Innovari's Interactive Energy Platform to manage energy in strategically selected buildings in the city of Cali.

"The project is part of Emcali's effort, following the historic drought of 2014, to expand long-term solutions beyond dependency on hydroelectric power to meet peak energy needs and to add affordable, clean capacity that will uphold reliability," Innovari said in a statement.

Jamaica's senate approved a bill to update the country's 125-year old Electricity Act, which regulates power generation, transmission, supply, distribution and dispatch.

The proposed legislation, passed recently in the lower house, seeks to promote transparency, investment, energy efficiency and renewable energy.

IDB issued a call for expressions of interest to review Belize's power interconnection alternatives with Guatemala and Mexico. The initiative seeks to increase the reliability and stability of Belize's grid, as well as provide lower cost electricity.

The bank also announced that Argentina's federal power council CFEE launched bidding to build 132kV transmission line Alto Padilla-El Volcán and a new transformer station in Jujuy province.
