Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has kicked off construction of the Rioverde-Ciudad Valles highway in San Luis Potosí state, according to a release from the ministry of transport and communications, SCT. The 113km highway cost 5.2bn pesos (US$398mn) to build and is concessioned to Mexican construction company ICA (NYSE: ICA). The president also inaugurated the 557mn-peso modernization of the Tamuín-Ébano highway. *** Engineering company ProMan will start construction of a US$1bn fertilizer plant in Mexico's Topolobampo port, Sinaloa state, in the coming days, according to a release from the Sinaloa state government. The ammonia plant will have capacity to produce 2,200t per day, making it one of the biggest plants of its type in the world. *** Costa Rica's national roads committee, Conavi, has launched a program to clean up 550km of highways across the country, according to a release from the ministry of public works and transport, MOPT. The cleanup works will be carried out by companies who hold concessions for construction and operation of the roads.
