Sonda IT, the Brazilian unit of Chilean IT solutions firm Sonda, has launched a new website following the completion of its brand unification process, the company said in a statement. The company says the portal comes under the new brand strategy and presents an integrated and developed portfolio. "With the unification, our supply structure started to follow our other Latin American operations. When a company in another country wants to reach us, it will know how to find the products and services available," Sonda IT president Carlos Testolini said. *** Spanish bank BBVA is adopting cloud-based Google Apps for Business platform, the bank's CIO, José Ollala, announced in a statement. The Google Apps implementation is to be scaled, beginning with operations in Spain and then reaching all of BBVA's 110,000 worldwide employees by year-end, Ollala said. The bank has operations throughout Latin America. The executive also underlined as benefits new collaboration tools and an integrated virtual workplace. *** Haiti's largest mobile operator, Digicel, has implemented Oracle's Exadata Database Machine X2-2, the latter said in a release. According to Oracle, Digicel aimed to power its data warehouse system. The communications company's data warehouse is used to analyze call data records (CDRs) and generate reports regarding current and potential subscribers. *** Costa Rican software company Proyectica has developed a finance management solution for the country's public education ministry, national IT and telecoms association Camtic reported. The implementation was specifically destined to the ministry's education quality improvement program, Promece. The idea is to streamline the distribution of Promece resources to rural institutions and to have a record of what is being used and where, mainly concerning transportation and school meals.
