Rousseff readies Brazil's infra concessions announcement

Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff met with her ministers over the weekend to go over the national transportation infrastructure concessions program to be announced shortly, the federal government said in a release.

The meeting came after an international roadshow about the concessions, which included visits to the United States, Spain and Portugal, aimed at attracting investors and ironing out financing details regarding public-private partnerships for sectors such as airports, highways, railways, and ports.

The heads of state-run banks Banco do Brasil and Caixa Econômica Federal, and national development bank BNDES, were present at the meeting on Saturday.

According to a BNDES study, Brazil's transportation system – including urban mobility – needs some 227bn reais (US$77.3bn) in investments for the 2015-18 period.
