RWE submits US$320mn Chile solar project for environmental review
RWE has submitted the US$320mn Pita solar project to Chile’s environmental review agency SEA.
The 192MW project involves a solar power plant and energy storage systems in an area of 335ha. Overall, 334,617 photovoltaic modules, each of 575W, will be installed.
The energy storage component will ensure injection during low-generation periods.
A 33-220kV booster substation is planned to be built, along with a 13.3km, 220kV high-voltage line that will connect the Pita substation to the existing Nueva Pozo Almonte substation. This line will be used to inject the generated energy into the national grid.
Related infrastructure work includes an access from route 5 and internal roads.
Agea Consultoría e Ingeniería was selected as the environmental consultancy.
