During his first speech as head of state, President Santiago Peña said that Paraguay is becoming the logistics center of the South American Bi-Oceanic Road Corridor , with geographic centrality being the opportunity to strengthen integration with neighboring countries and Pacific markets.

"Paraguay is determined to abandon its former image of an island surrounded by land, as our Cervantes Prize winner Don Augusto Roa Bastos described it, and become a center of American integration," the president remarked.

“This commercial corridor will promote Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance, promoting a closer relationship between both blocks. In addition, due to its intersection with the Paraguay-Paraná waterway, this will become the most competitive way to transport products from different countries to the Pacific ports, facilitating consensus for the management of fluvial navigation”, he stated.

From the new administration of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications ( MOPC ), the commitment is made to continue promoting this emblematic work, he finally expressed.
