Bnamericas

The São Paulo subway company, Metrô de São Paulo, signed a contract to finish works at Line 17-Gold.

The works will be completed by local construction firm Constran and the contract is worth 495mn reais (US$119mn).

Along with building the remaining stretch of the line, which is 86% completed, Constran will be responsible to conclude the construction of  the Aeroporto de Congonhas, Jardim Aeroporto, Brooklin Paulista, Alderman José Diniz, Campo Belo, Vila Cordeiro and Chucri Zaidan stations.

Line 17-Gold will comprise a total of eight stations across a 7.7 km stretch, connecting the Congonhas airport with the train network at Morumbi station.

The original project was under the responsibility of the Consórcio Monotrilho Integração (CMI), but the contract  was terminated by São Paulo Metro after slow progress of the works and various delays.

The subway company slapped the consortium with fines of 88mn reais.

The other part of the canceled contract with CMI, including the manufacturing and supply of trains and signaling systems, is in the final stage of a tender process.
