São Paulo metro suspends tender for early works on US$6.5bn line

São Paulo metro operator CMSP suspended a tender for basic engineering and design works for the planned US$6.5bn line No. 20-pink.

The suspension comes after both the winner and the group coming second filed administrative appeals against the decision of the bidding committee, the subway operator said in a statement.

More than 20 companies in four consortiums presented offers for the basic design of the project.

The MNEPI Linha 20 consortium – comprising Maubertec Tecnologia em Engenharia, Nova Engevix Engenharia e Projetos, Pólux Engenharia and Intertechne Consultores – presented the best offer.

The consortium alleged that the bidding committee made a mistake in the technical score assigned to it and must revise it upwards. 

Consortium Sener Setepla Tecnometal Engenharia e Sistemas –comprising Egis Engenharia e Consultoria-Setec Hidrobrasileira Obras e Projetos – came second. 

The group asked for the process to be suspended alleging that the MNEPI consortium obtained advantages as it considered the same team of technicians to produce the projects for both parts of the line.

The subway operator did not give a deadline for completing the review of the appeals.
