São Paulo sets date for US$1.6bn Rota Sorocabana highway auction
São Paulo state is planning to hold an auction to offer the Rota Sorocabana highway concession on October 30.
The 460km route passes through 17 cities in the Brazilian state and projected investment over the 30-year concession is 8.7bn reais (US$1.6bn).
The investment will be used for additional lanes, cycle paths, accesses and other infrastructure works, the state government said in a release.
The winner will be the one offering the highest fee to be paid to the state with a minimum of 31.7mn reais. Initial proposals must be sent to São Paulo’s B3 stock exchange by October 25.

Meanwhile, the state government said the concession of the Nova Raposo highway is expected to be offered this year. It plans to publish the notice this month.
"With a total investment of around 7.1bn reais, the interventions will result in the expansion of the road network. In total, more than 90km of highway will be modernized," the government said in a statement.
Rota Sorocabana and Nova Raposo are currently operated by highway concessionaire ViaOeste.
